In this study, some new hypotheses and techniques are presented to obtain some new analytical solutions to the generalized Kawahara equation. As a particular case, some traveling wave solutions to both Kawahara equation and modified Kawahara equation are derived in detail. Periodic and soliton solutions to this family are obtained. The periodic solutions are expressed in terms of Weierstrass elliptic functions and Jacobian elliptic functions. For KE, some direct and indirect approaches are carried out to derive the periodic and localized (...) solutions. For mKE, two different hypotheses in the form of WSEFs are used to derive the periodic and localized solutions. Also, the cnoidal wave solutions in the form of JEFs are obtained. As a realistic physical application, the solutions obtained can be dedicated to studying many nonlinear waves that propagate in plasma. (shrink)

The analysis of courtroom trials has attracted considerable scholarly attention. However, studies performing SFL analysis of legal texts and speeches are rare. The up-to-date published studies handled criminal cases; yet, there is a lack of SFL studies examining civil cases like divorce and defamation. The present qualitative study utilized systemic functional multimodal discourse analysis (SF-MDA) of the 2022 defamation trial sued by Johnny Depp’s lawyer (the plaintiff) against Amber Heard (the defendant). The SF-MDA of the transitivity system aimed to examine (...) and compare the experiential meaning in the speeches of the plaintiff and the defendant. The study aimed to answer the following research questions: (1) what are the differences in the plaintiff’s and defendant’s use of experiential meanings? (2) how can transitivity and multimodality aid in the experiential communicative meanings and the arrival of the final verdict in the courtroom? and (3) what were the language tactics that were manifested throughout the analysis? The plaintiff utilized material processes with the highest frequency, followed by relational and mental processes. However, the defendant made excessive use of the relational processes followed by mental and material processes. The speech of the plaintiff included more circumstances than the defendant. Some of the language techniques, used by the plaintiff and the defendant were detected. (shrink)

The article deals with the main ideas of the political philosophy of Abu Abdallah Ibn al-Azraq al-Garnati (1427-1491), a well-known Muslim statesman, supreme judge of Granada, lawyer, diplomat, supporter of Arab Muslim peripatetism, a student of the outstanding thinker of the Muslim Middle Ages Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406). In the history of the political philosophy of the Muslim East, a number of major transformations in the development of the Arab Caliphate from the Medina state of the prophet to the Sultanate in (...) the Abbasid period should be noted, which were reflected in the development of the theory of the Arab-Muslim state (caliphate). The main problem of the theory of the caliphate was connected with the question of the relationship between power and authority in the context of the moral foundations of the state. The creative heritage of Ibn al-Azraq is mainly known for his work in the genre of adab ("mirrors of princes") “Miracles on the way, or the Nature of dominion”. The treatise became a classic of the political philosophy of the Muslim Middle Ages, in which, under the influence of Aristotelian ideas, a special place was given to the moral foundations of power and the state, that is, ethics was considered as a political science. In the form of instructive parables, the rulers and heirs to the throne were explained the basics of state administration as part of their studies and education. His doctrine of the virtues can be viewed as ethical rationalism with a belief in the moral perfection of people in power and subjects of the state. Since morals are largely acquired and a person can control them, the task of purifying his own morals and curing them is entrusted to him. In addition, accordingly, it is possible and necessary to cultivate virtues in rulers, since the well-being of the state and the ummah depends on their morals. She aimed education current into detecting the relationship between self-compassion and symptoms of physical deformities in adolescents and differences depending on several demographic variables. The study sample consisted of (293) adolescents. The self-compassion scale was used to achieve the objectives of the study. (Neff, Bluth, et al., 2021) The External Appearance Anxiety Scale (Park, 2007) and external rejection sensitivity meter (Roberts et al., 2018). The results of the study indicated that the level of anxiety on the external appearance came with (...) an average degree, as the arithmetic average was (2.63), and that the level of self-compassion among adolescents with physical deformities was at an average level, where the arithmetic average was (3.26), and it was found that there is an influential relationship between self-compassion and sensitivity to rejection due to appearance, as the direct effects have reached 52.2%, and it is also found that sex has a negative impact that is statistically indicative of the relationship between self-compassion And sensitivity to rejection because of appearance, as it turns out that the level of education has a negative impact statistically significant between the relationship between self-compassion and sensitivity rejection because of appearance, and it is also found that weight has a negative effect is statistically significant on the relationship between self-compassion and sensitivity rejection because of appearance. The direct impact of self-compassion on sensitivity to rejection due to appearance reached 36.3%, and sex had a statistically significant adverse effect on the relationship between empathy and deformities. The academic level also has a statistically significant adverse impact on the relationship between self-compassion and distortions. (shrink)

The findings of this study indicate that social morals learned from the Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah are the most widely used educational ideas and practices. The descriptive-analytic method and grounded theory approach divide the research into an introduction, two articles, and a conclusion. First, the social morals and values prescribed by the Qur'an are investigated; next, the social morals and values prescribed by the Prophetic Sunnah are examined. According to the research, the most important social lessons learned from these (...) sacred works include piety, self-assurance, respecting humanity, regulating Muslims' social life, and emphasizing Muslims' commitments to one another. Students understand the need for fact-checking information and contrasting actions with consequences in the afterlife due to these precepts. (shrink)

UK National statistics for science, engineering and technology studies and careers confirm the under-representation of women in these disciplines. A literature review formed the basis for developing survey questionnaires exploring issues of female students' attraction to, and retention in, engineering and technology studies. Findings indicate that having family members in the engineering or technology industry plays an important part in the students' choice of degree topic and future career. In particular, we found that female students need to be encouraged to (...) study a "male dominated" subject, such as engineering or technology but that teachers do not contribute much to such encouragement. While at university, female students were more comfortable in small practical sessions rather than in a large lecture theatre environment and, when evaluating self-confidence in their skills at graduation, the female students were less confident than their male colleagues. In addition, the study highlights that gaining work experience through an industrial placement should be one of the priorities for engineering and technology students. A high level of determination and wanting to do engineering or technology is especially necessary for women who may be discouraged by the stereotyped image of engineering and technology studies and professions. This study aimed to identify the social responsibility of higher education institutions in supporting the entrepreneurship sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, To achieve this goal, the descriptive and analytical method was used, by designing a questionnaire and distributing it to the research sample, which consists of 200 students and workers at Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University. The study found the importance of training and qualification in developing and stimulating entrepreneurship in the Kingdom, The lack of development of (...) educational curricula is considered an obstacle to development.In light of these results, the study recommended the necessity of investing in the education and training sector, qualifying workers and students, in addition to developing educational courses by making use of the experiences of others, especially in developed countries. Filistin’de kadın olmak, dahası kadın bir yazar olmak oldukça zordur. 1948 işgalinden beri bu topraklarda yaşayan kadın-erkek bütün Filistinliler kimlik sorunu yaşamaktadır. Bu sorun, 2001 sonrası Filistinlileri için daha büyük bir önem arzetmektedir. Çünkü Filistin edebiyatı daha ziyade bu dönem sonrası gelişmiş ve konuları itibariyle önemli bir değişime uğramıştır. Bu süreçte modernite Filistin toplumunu kuşatmış, kadınların toplumun her aşamasında var olması gibi, sosyal hayatlarında önemli değişikliklere yol açmıştır. Kadın ve erkek her Filistinli, isyanın ötesinde, İsrail devleti içerisinde ayakta kalabilmek, varlıklarını (...) devam ettirebilmek için çareler aramaya yönelmişlerdir. Bu sevindirici bir gelişme olarak görülmektedir. Zira yaşanmakta olan sosyal gerçeklik kabullenilmiştir. Bu dönemin özelliklerinden biri de kadın yazarların ortaya çıkması, toplumsal sorunlarla ilgili eser kaleme almalarıdır. Biz bu makalede Filistin toplumu içerisinde yaşanmakta olan kadın imajı ve onlara ait kimlik sorununu üzerinde duracağız. Background End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is the final stage of chronic kidney disease. Yet dialysis is not suitable for all ESRD patients. Moreover, while shared decision-making (SDM) is the preferred model for making medical decisions, little is known about SDM between nephrology nurses and ESRD patients in Israel. Research Objective Assessing the views, attitudes, practices, and ethical dilemmas of nephrology nurses in Israel regarding SDM with ESRD patients. Methods Using the descriptive quantitative approach, questionnaires were completed by 444 nephrology nurses (...) in Israel. In addition to conducting descriptive statistics, t-tests for independent samples, f-tests for analysis of variance, and both tests for independence were also performed. Ethical Considerations The research aims, expected advantages and risks have been explained to respondents before completing the questionnaire to secure informed consent. Anonymity and confidentiality were ensured throughout the study. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee at the University of Haifa (Approval # 411/21). Results About one-third (30%–36.5%) of nurses reported discussing quality of life issues with ESRD patients, asking about their advance directives/power of attorney, exploring cultural/religious beliefs in end-of-life care, and ask about their preferred place of death. Nurses who convey high levels of patient-centered care (68.9%, p<0.0001), have high end-of-life training (76.2%, p<0.0001), and report cooperating with interdisciplinary teams (63.8%, p = 0.0415), also reported higher SDM practices than others. Nurses who refer less patients to palliative care (70%, p<0.0001) reported higher involvement in SDM compared to other nurses. Conclusions Nephrology nurses in Israel do not tend to implement the SDM model, despite its potential for improving quality of life for ESRD patients and their families and increasing conservative care options. Policy makers and educators in Israel should develop and implement training programs and support in the workplace, to enhance SDM between nephrology nurses and ESRD patients. (shrink)

Ilan Pappe, one of the New Historians in Israel, answers Amaya et Bacha’s questions concerning the disciplinary proceedings initiated against him by the administration of the University of Haifa. Pappe argues that the measures taken against him were the result of his critique of Israeli academia for its lack of independence, as well as of his scholarly work on the « Nakba » and, in particular, the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian village of Tantura at the founding of the (...) state of Israel. Ilan Gur Ze’ev gave his last lecture on January 4, 2012, in room 363 in the Haifa University’s Faculty of Education. Ilan passed away on the morning of January 5, 2012 at the Italian Hospital in Haifa. In this last lecture given to friends, colleagues and students he said ‘The challenge is to counter immersion of ourselves in the fashionable and in frozen identities. Important doors are opening for education to love. To summarize my part of this encounter, (...) as I depart from you after so many years of passion as part of this endeavour, let me say goodbye, with infinite thanks, for the opportunity to be part of this community. In the hope you will continue to educate to be critical, to educate to inspiration and above all to do so out of love’. This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book deals with the nature of hierarchical relations, in particular the computational procedure needed to generate such relations. It discusses the importance of linguistic diversity in Chomsky's work. Chomsky's own work has mostly focused on synchronic grammatical analyses. The book describes ways in which work on second language acquisition has embraced theoretical developments in syntax, and how it has sometimes informed those developments (...) as well. It also discusses different declarative frameworks, shows in detail how they are compatible with Chomsky's early work, and provides examples of grammatical analyses within such frameworks.
